The Boy Who Lived…

Previous to July 2000, I have faint memories of seeing these children’s books on special racks in Borders and Barnes & Noble - sporting a boy flying on a broom. I didn’t give them much notice.

When the series’ author, J. K. Rowling, completes and has published the final book sometime in the next two-to-three years, the Harry Potter books will number seven. And it was the intense media blitz over the publication of the fourth book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, in July 2000 that finally got my attention and convinced me to give the books a try.

And I’m glad I did!

In addition to introducing me to a wonderful story, enjoying Harry Potter has allowed me to have a number of remarkable experiences and has given me the opportunity to get to know a lot of wonderful people. Harry Potter tends to attract nice people as fans, and I have gotten to meet a number of them.
